Four-time Tony winner Audra McDonald is going to have quite a busy fall. Prior to the Broadway run of Porgy and Bess (which begins performances December 17 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre) McDonald will launch a North American concert tour beginning October 1 at Philadelphia's Kimmel Center.
McDonald is a Tony winner for Carousel, Master Class, Ragtime and A Raisin in the Sun. She also received Tony nominations for 110 in the Shade and Marie Christine. Her other Broadway credits include Henry VI, Something Wonderful and The Secret Garden. Her film and TV credits include Private Practice, Annie, The Bedford Diaries, Wit, It Runs in the Family and Cradle Will Rock.
Porgy and Bess' pre-Broadway engagement at the American Repertory Theater will begin August 17 and run through October 2. Opening night is set for August 31. McDonald will not appear in the last three performances of the production due to her concert commitments. A complete list of McDonald's tour dates is listed below.
